The Teen Center is for Vance’s young adults. The Teen Center hosts activities such as dances, sport activities and trips. Several nationally recognized organizations are affiliated with the Teen Center, such as the Boys and Girls Clubs of America, the Congressional Award and Youth of the Year. These programs are eligible to all patrons. The Vance Teen Center invites teens ages 13 to 18 or in grades 7 through 12 to become a member. Get a lifetime membership to the Teen Center and the Boys and Girls Club for just $10. Sign up at the Youth Center, Building 323, or by calling (580) 213-7166 or (580) 213-6762. Parents are also encouraged to become members of the Parent Advisory Board. Contact Roger Miller at (580) 213-5025 for information. Vance’s Teen Center is open afternoons and evenings seven days a week. The Vance Teen Center moved locations and re-opened in May 2007. New additions to the Teen Center include an art studio, music recording lab, fitness room and resource room. Teen have access to skill building software including Spanish and German language learning, SAT/ACT/PSAT prep, Adobe Illustrator, Front Page, Professional Storyboarding and Groovelab music mixing along with many recreational materials and areas. The Youth Center also offers a teen council that meets and chooses activities for the base's teens. Teen activities include field trips, lock-ins, dances and other age-appropriate events. Open Recreation is a program designed for youth ages 10 - 12 (if not in the seventh grade) to participate in planned or self-directed activities. Open Recreation takes place during the first two hours of every day of operation.
