Nonappropriated Fund (NAF) employment is federal employment, and it is secure and permanent unless noted as temporary. It is not the same as federal civil service employment because some of the rules are different, and the money comes from a different source. Civil service or Appropriated Fund (APF) positions are paid for by money appropriated by the Congress. NAF money, on the other hand, is self-generated by Air Force clubs, bowling centers, golf courses, and other activities that use NAF employees. We have two types of NAF employment categories: "flexible" and "regular." Flexible employees work between 0 and 40 hours a week and have no benefits. Regular employees have guaranteed hours of at least 20, but can work up to 40 hours a week depending on the need of the activity at which they work. Regular employees also may be eligible for benefits including health/life insurance, retirement, 401(k), and annual and sick leave. NAF Positions on Vance AFB (NOT a vacancy list):
